To provide his expertise to the SFL Sustainable Forest Livelihoods for Communities project , Julien, Deputy Director of Eticwood, travelled to Guyana for ten days to support WWF in identifying partners for the implementation and formulation of on-granting agreements.
These agreements aim to launch projects on the ground in four value chains: wood, agroforestry, honey and tourism.
During his mission, accompanied by Giani, our project manager based in Suriname, he travelled through regions 2, 9 and 10, in collaboration with WWF. He met with various local partners to assess their capacities and define the activities needed to achieve the objectives set for each value chain.
The aim of the project is to maintain healthy forests and natural resources in French Guiana and Suriname. The programme will therefore contribute to :
The deliverables of his work include the drafting of ‘On-Granting’ agreements, which specify the activities, budget, logical framework, strategy and timetable for carrying out the projects, all of which are intended to benefit the local and indigenous communities that depend on the forest.
